ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp, the messaging application owned by Meta, is preparing to launch a new feature that will enable users to easily manage multiple accounts on a single device, according to recent reports.
While WhatsApp already allows users to sign in to one account on multiple devices, this upcoming update will introduce the ability to have multiple accounts within a single app and seamlessly switch between them.
The discovery of this feature was made by WABetaInfo, a well-known WhatsApp feature tracker blog. Currently, the multi-account functionality is visible on WhatsApp Business, but it is expected to be extended to other versions of WhatsApp in the near future.
According to a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will introduce a dedicated menu that will allow users to switch between different accounts effortlessly. This feature is already offered by several other social media applications such as Instagram, Discord, and Telegram.
Convenience for WhatsApp Users
Once users log in to an additional account on their device, it will be saved in their account list until they choose to sign out or remove the account from the list.
This new feature will be particularly useful for individuals who want to keep their personal and professional WhatsApp accounts separate, even if they only have a single device.
The handling of notifications from multiple accounts is yet to be clarified. It is possible that WhatsApp may introduce a label indicating the account from which a message is received, but further details are still awaited.
The multi-account feature is currently in development for WhatsApp Business, so it will take some time before it is rolled out to all users.
