NEW YORK: Meta’s WhatsApp is gearing up to launch a new feature that promises to revolutionize user communication by enabling in-app message translation directly within chat boxes.

As the leading instant messenger globally, WhatsApp continues to innovate to enhance user experience. The upcoming feature, reported by WABetaInfo, aims to facilitate seamless communication across different linguistic backgrounds.

The feature, showcased in a recent news update, will empower users to translate messages they receive into their preferred language using locally processed language packs. This ensures user privacy, as the translation process does not involve sending data to external servers.

Users will be required to download language packs to activate the feature, granting them on-demand access to translations whenever needed.

Initially, the live translation capability is expected to support languages like English, Arabic, and Hindi upon its launch, with potential expansions to include more languages in subsequent updates. The development is currently focused on Android phones, highlighting WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing accessibility and user interaction on mobile platforms.
