LONDON: WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow users to reshare status updates where they have been mentioned, similar to Instagram’s feature to simplify the sharing of status updates.

The new “Reshare Status Updates” feature is currently in the development stages and aims to enhance user experience by streamlining the process of resharing content.

This upcoming feature will allow users to easily reshare status updates in which they have been tagged, eliminating the need for manual screenshots or private requests to the original sharer. A dedicated button for resharing will be integrated into the status update interface, providing a more intuitive and seamless method for users to distribute content across their contact lists.

Currently, users must navigate a cumbersome process to share a status update where they have been mentioned. This often involves taking screenshots or asking the original poster to send the update directly. The new feature is expected to address these inefficiencies by offering a straightforward option for resharing directly from the status update screen.

The “Reshare Status Updates” button will be prominently placed within the status interface, enabling users to quickly share tagged updates with their contacts without additional steps. This update is anticipated to significantly improve how users interact with status updates on WhatsApp.

The feature is still under development and is not yet available to beta testers. Although WhatsApp has not announced a specific timeline for its official release, it is expected to be included in a future update to the app.
