ISLAMABAD: More than 20 older Android phones will no longer be compatible with the Meta-owned app, WhatsApp because of their outdated operating systems from January 1, 2025.
A report from HDblog reveals that the decision is part of the messaging platform’s continuous efforts to update and adapt to the latest technological advancements and enhance the user experience.
Older smartphones with outdated operating systems may not be able to accommodate new changes and updates.
Which phones will be impacted?
The devices impacted include models from brands like Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG, and Sony. As per the list Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini, Moto G (1st Gen), Razr HD, Moto E 2014, One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601, Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90, Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V, will not be compatible with the WhatsApp in future.
If a smartphone appears on the list, it might be time for the user to think about upgrading. Devices that no longer receive support would not be able to run WhatsApp, which means switching to a newer model or exploring alternative messaging apps.
