LAHORE: The capital city of Punjab, Lahore has been declared as the most polluted city of the world, live statistics released by the United States air quality monitoring agency IQ Air revealed.
As per details, Beijing, Dhaka, Shenyang, Milan, Seattle, Zagreb, Portland, Karachi, and Vancouver are the next worst cities across the globe for air quality.
Air quality statistics released by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lahore say that the current meteorological conditions indicate that there are chances for the accumulation of suspended aerosols in the atmosphere in the coming two days, which may result in poor visibility.
It may be recalled that the smog became a major concern in 2017 when the Punjab Environment Protection Council created an AQI rating system and authorized a Smog Action Plan in response to a court injunction.
It may be recalled that prior to the winter season, the Lahore High Court ordered the provincial government to declare a smog emergency throughout the province.
