SHIMLA: A fire incident in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh of India has left a woman dead and at least 31 people others injured, some critically, officials said on Friday.
According to reports, the fire erupted inside a cosmetic factory located in Jharmajri-Nalagarh of Solan district, approximately 77 km southwest of Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh.
In response to the distress call, firefighters, disaster management personnel, police, and health officials rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations. Thick black smoke hindered firefighting efforts, and it took several hours for the firefighters to bring the blaze under control. A woman was brought dead to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).
The injured persons have been transported to various hospitals, with critical cases referred to Chandigarh, as reported by a senior official from the Himachal Pradesh disaster management authority.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. Police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
