Kabul: Many traders, including women entrepreneurs, are participating in an exhibition currently under way in Kabul where domestic products have been displayed.

Under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry and Mines, the exhibition aims to promote the private sector in the war-ravaged country.

The ministry said such exhibitions would be held outside the country to promote Afghan products in the international market.

Ministry of Industry and Mines Acting Minister Nooruddin Azizi said that they were hoping for a day when such exhibitions will be held in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, China, Central Asia and neighbouring countries, according to Tolo News.

Government Media and Information Centre head Inamullah Samangani said that the industrial sector needed support to achieve economic self-sufficiency.

He said that this was the time for them to rely on their own strength and increase their exports and domestic products.

Participants of the exhibition expressed optimism, saying that such displays could help explore markets for their products.

“It has a lot of potential because we have foreign visitors and such exhibits can promote Afghan products abroad,” said Azizullah, a trader who had put his products on display.

The exhibition will run for three days. Nearly 200 rooms have been set up at the venue, where traders display their products.

Women entrepreneurs have also put their products, including handmade crafts such as clothes and jewelry, on display at the exhibition, said entrepreneur Arozo Rameen.
