ISLAMABAD: World Autism Awareness Day being observed globally including Pakistan on Tuesday, emphasizing the significance of acceptance, support, and inclusion for individuals with autism, alongside advocating for their rights.
This year’s theme, “Moving from surviving to thriving,” underscores the imperative to shift attention from merely coping with autism to fostering environments where autistic individuals can flourish. Designated by the United Nations in its 76th plenary meeting on December 18, 2007, World Autism Awareness Day has been commemorated annually since 2008. The day provides a forum for promoting the welfare and rights of people on the autism spectrum.
Throughout the day, various events and activities are being organized globally to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorders and to promote understanding and acceptance within communities.
The significance of World Autism Awareness Day extends beyond a single day of recognition, catalyzing ongoing efforts to create inclusive societies where all individuals, regardless of neurodiversity, can thrive.
