World Bank Reaffirms Support for Pakistan’s FBR Transformation Efforts

ISLAMABAD: The Country Director of the World Bank, Najy Benhassine, along with key officials including Tobias Akhtar Haque (Lead Country Economist), Lucy Pan (Senior Economist), and Irum Touqeer (Public Sector Specialist), visited the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) headquarters today.

They met with FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial to discuss the FBR Transformation Plan.

During the meeting, Chairman Langrial outlined the government’s vision for transforming the FBR and provided a comprehensive overview of the Transformation Plan approved by the Prime Minister.

He stated that the plan is designed to maximize revenue growth while ensuring compliance, highlighting key reform areas such as tax policy changes, digitalization efforts, human resource capacity building, anti-smuggling initiatives, and broad-based tax administration reforms.

Benhassine expressed strong support for the FBR’s initiatives and reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to assisting Pakistan in its revenue mobilization efforts.
