GAZA: People have hit the roads and streets around the world to protest against Israel’s deadly military attacks in Gaza and Lebanon.

Israel forces have killed more than 41,615 Palestinians in Gaza since it launched its brutal attack in October 2023, local health authorities said. The military offensive has also sparked a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip that has inflamed opinion internationally.

Protest demonstrators expressed outrage against the Israeli aggression, asking an end to the war in Gaza, terming the situation as “genocide,” and calling upon the world to act.  Protest demonstrations have taken place from the Europe to Middle East, Pakistan, the US, India, and Far East Asia.

Greta Thunberg

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has joined thousands of demonstrators in Stockholm last week to denounce Israel’s “genocide” in Palestine and asked global action to intervene.

Thunberg stated remaining silent during a genocide is to be complicit and underlined the significance of boycotting Israel, Israeli firms and institutions, as well as imposing sanctions.

Swedish activist and artist Samuel Girma called Israel “a terrorist state” and urged a boycott of trade with Israel after “terror attacks in Lebanon.”

According to Arab News, fellow Swede Dr. Uno Horn denounced Israel’s operations. “They are killing kids,” said Horn. “It’s not war; it’s a terror strike.”

Various demonstrations also broke out in New York City last Thursday, ahead of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the UNGA on Friday.

In Pakistan, protest demonstrations hit the streets and roads of Karachi on Sunday.  The Indonesian Council of Ulema also urged citizens to keep up the fight for “Palestinian independence” by continuing to boycott products over their association to Israel as the war in Gaza nears its one-year mark.

Cholil Nafis, chairman of the Council of Ulema, called on Indonesian people to “never stop the boycott movement because the genocide of Gazans has not stopped either.”

Indian Occupied Kashmir was rocked by large pro-Palestine, pro-Lebanon and anti-Israel protests on Sunday that continued on Monday.

End Genocide in Gaza

Following the Israeli attacks on Beirut, protest demonstrations unfolded in Finland, where protestors demanded an immediate end to Israeli offensives in Lebanon.

In Paris, the protest demonstrators gathered near the famous Fontaine des Innocents, holding banners that read “Boycott Israel” and “End the Genocide in Gaza”.  Many protestors wore keffiyehs and carried images of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed by Israeli troops in 2022.

Similarly, Pro-Palestinian protests have also been held at universities across the United Kingdom since the early days of Israeli offensive in Gaza. Many universities across Australia joined the pro-Palestinian protest demonstrations, with the University of Queensland in Brisbane and University of Sydney becoming main gathering points.  Protest demonstrations and sit-ins have also long been staged on campuses in parts of Asia and the Middle East

Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi also saw protests with students expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine.  Protests also spread to universities in Lausanne, Geneva and Zurich in Switzerland, and at Free University in Berlin, a protest demonstration was held with people erecting a protest camp in a campus courtyard.
