BEIJING, China: Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his commitment to expanding cooperation with Russian President Vladimir Putin during their exchange on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Xi emphasized strengthening “all-round pragmatic cooperation” and fostering a “permanent good-neighborly friendship” with Russia, according to China’s state media.
The leaders highlighted their countries’ growing partnership, particularly as Moscow faces Western sanctions following its 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Both nations oppose “Western hegemony,” especially U.S. dominance in global affairs, and have established a “no limits” partnership.
Xi praised the deepening political trust and practical cooperation between China and Russia, noting their mutual success in navigating “major changes unseen in a century.” Xi is also expected to attend a BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, where he is likely to meet with Putin again.
