ISLAMABAD: In a heartfelt letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his birthday, Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China. Xi expressed that the strengthening of ties is of utmost importance, emphasizing a desire to work closely with the Prime Minister to bolster strategic cooperation.
The letter highlights the multi-dimensional relationship shared by Islamabad and Beijing, which includes significant collaboration in various sectors, notably through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This initiative has been pivotal in facilitating infrastructure development and economic growth in Pakistan.
Xi’s letter also comes on the heels of recent developments, including a memorandum of understanding signed by the Chinese investment company RUYI Shangdong to establish textile parks in Pakistan. This initiative aims to attract around 100 Chinese textile firms, potentially generating exports worth $2 billion initially, and an additional $5 billion in subsequent phases. The project is expected to create between 300,000 to 500,000 local jobs, highlighting the economic benefits of the ongoing partnership.

Reflecting on the historical ties between the two nations, President Xi noted that the Pak-China relationship has remained resilient, unaffected by changing global dynamics. He acknowledged PM Shehbaz’s recent visit to China, during which key agreements were reached, further solidifying their strategic partnership.
Xi concluded his letter by wishing the Prime Minister good health and success, reiterating his eagerness to collaborate on CPEC and deepen the connections between the peoples of both countries. This commitment underscores the enduring and strategic nature of Pakistan-China relations as they navigate the complexities of the international landscape.
