PYONGYANG, North Korea: Chinese President Xi Jinping has conveyed a message to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, expressing a commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting peace in the region and beyond.
This communication, reported by North Korea’s state media on Sunday, was sent in response to Kim’s earlier message celebrating the 75th anniversary of China’s founding in 1949.
In his message, Xi highlighted the enduring connection between China and North Korea, stating, “China and the DPRK are linked by the same mountain and rivers,” emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship that has developed over time.
He expressed a willingness to work collaboratively with Kim to advance their “traditional friendly and cooperative relations” toward sustainable and stable development.
Xi’s comments reflect China’s strategic interest in maintaining a strong alliance with North Korea, aiming to enhance the welfare of both nations while safeguarding regional and global peace and stability. This move could also signal China’s intent to play a more proactive role in addressing geopolitical tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
