ISLAMABAD: China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has resumed direct passenger flights to Pakistan for the first time since the pandemic started.
China Southern Airlines resumed regular passenger flights between Xinjiang’s capital Urumqi and Islamabad in Pakistan after 3 years of suspension due to the pandemic.
Xinjiang’s subsidiary of China Southern Airlines said that more than 160 passengers, mostly businesspeople and overseas students, boarded the flights to and from Islamabad on Wednesday.
Passenger expresses delight over direct flight service
One passenger surnamed Xiang, who engages in business and regularly travels between the two countries, said that the resumption of direct flights could greatly shorten travel time and help him grasp trade opportunities more quickly.
The airline schedule is such it will operate one-round trip per week.
