Yemenia Airways Resumes International Flight Operations from Sanaa

CAIRO: Yemenia Airways on Sunday announced the commencement of commercial flight operations from Yemen’s Sanaa to Egypt and India, Yemen’s state media reported.

Flights to Cairo will operate once a day, while flights to India will run twice weekly. The resumption of flights is part of an aimed at ending hostilities in Yemen’s decade-old civil war.

Flights between Sanaa and Cairo had been stopped halted since late 2016.

Earlier Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the statement by the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, regarding the agreement between the Yemeni government and Ansar Allah Houthis on several measures to de-escalate tensions in the banking sector and Yemenia Airways.

The Kingdom expressed its support for the efforts to achieve security and peace for Yemenis. Saudi Arabia reiterated its continued support for Yemen’s government and people and emphasized its commitment to encouraging efforts to de-escalate the situation and maintain peace.
