MELBOURNE: A woman in Melbourne has been charged by Australian police after being caught on security camera performing a full yoga routine before allegedly breaking into a bakery and stealing various items, including an almond croissant, shoes, and cleaning products.
The unidentified woman, dressed in a black leather jacket, ripped black jeans, and black shoes, was captured on CCTV footage stretching for at least two minutes in the bakery’s carpark during the early hours of the morning. She performed yoga-inspired poses, including bridge pose and side plank, before entering Phillippa’s Bakery headquarters.
Phillippa’s Bakery confirmed the incident, stating that an almond croissant, cleaning products, and baker’s shoes were among the items stolen during the break-in.
Australian police have charged the woman with theft, burglary, and going equipped to steal. She was subsequently released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 22 May.
Reacting to the unusual break-in, Phillippa’s Bakery shared their surprise on Instagram, humorously noting the connection between yoga and the burglary. They remarked that the security footage revealed the burglar’s yoga routine before the theft, suggesting that the croissants might have been too tempting for the “flexible burglar.”
The incident has garnered attention for its unusual nature, highlighting the unexpected and quirky aspects of crime that sometimes emerge in everyday life.
