ISLAMABAD: Actress and celebrity designer Masaba Gupta has slammed former Pakistan Test cricketer Ramiz Raja for laughing at a racist joke directed towards her mother Neena Gupta and father Vivian Richards.
Gupta said Raja does not have any grace while her father Vivian Richards, mother Neena Gupta and herself have it in spades.
“Dear Ramiz Raja (sir) grace is a quality few have. My father, mother, and I have it in spades. You have none. Sickening to see you laugh on national TV in Pakistan at something the world stopped laughing at about 30 years back. Step into the future. All 3 of us are here with our chin up. #ramizraja,” Masaba Gupta wrote on X.
A clip went viral on social media in which Raja was seen laughing at a racist joke pointing at former West Indies Test cricketer Vivian Richards. A comedian actor cracked a joke of Vivian’s skin colour which made Ramiz laugh. The laughter disappointed Gupta Masaba.
The controversy came just days after former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq faced fierce backlash from across the border for passing ‘misogynistic’ remarks against Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Former Pakistani superstar Razzq later apologised for his remarks.
