ISLAMABAD: Meteorological Department’s (Met) Climate Data Processing Centre has forecasted that the first day of Muharram will be observed on Wednesday, 19 July.
The centre predicted the possibility of sighting the Muharram moon on 18 July, which falls on 29 of Zilhaj. It said that Ashura will occur on Friday, 28 July.
Moon likely to be born on 17 July
According to the Met office, the moon is likely to be born on 17 July. However, a cloudy weather is expected during the moon sighting in most parts of the country. The sunset is expected to take place at 7:24 pm, followed by the moonset at 8:00 pm, the Climate Data Processing Centre said.
In Karachi, the moon would be approximately twenty hours and seventeen minutes old at the time of sunset.
The moon sighting period for Muharram extends up to fourt-six minutes after sunset.
