Zaheer-Ud-Din Babar Ranks Among Great Personalities of Asia: Speakers

ISLAMABAD: Aybek Arif Usmanov, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Pakistan, on Monday said that Zaheer Ud  Din Muhammad Babar is one of the great personalities of Asia and his legacy is very well known all over the world.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Babur: A Symbol of Shared Legacy between Pakistan and Uzbekistan’ at Punjab University Lahore, the ambassador said that Zaheer Ud Din Babar deserved to be in one place with great scholars.

He said great scholars like Abu Ali Ibn Sina, Al Faraby, Al Khwarazmy, Abu Ali Ibn Sina, Al Faraby, Al Khwarazmy, Abu Raihan Beruni, Mirza Ghalib, and Allama Muhammad Iqbal who are deemed as a common heritage of Islamic cultural renaissance, knowledge, and science.

540th Birth Anniversary of Babur The Great

The seminar to celebrate the 540th birth anniversary celebrations of Babar was organized by the Department of History and Pakistan Studies Babar Legacy Center at Punjab University in collaboration with the Embassy of Uzbekistan.

Faculty of Arts and Humanities Dean Prof Dr. Amra Raza, Director Babar Legacy Center Prof Dr. Rukhsana Iftikhar, chairman Department of History Prof. Dr. Mehboob Hussain, diplomats, faculty members, and a huge number of students were present in the seminar.

In his address, the ambassador Arif Usmanov said that the President and Uzbek people were grateful for honoring Babar’s legacy and enrichment of bilateral political and cultural ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

He said in 2021, over 70 art pieces and paintings were displayed in the Art Exhibition and the art contest at Punjab University, not just attracted the common public but also strengthening the bilateral re-connectivity.

Ancient ties between South Asia, Central Asia

On the occasion, Dr. Mehboob said that South Asia and Central Asia are 2 geographical regions that share a history of mutual ties dating back to ancient times.

He said that hundreds of writers, Sufis, poets, artists, ulema, and common people migrated from Central Asia to South Asia. Both the regions have been considered the part of earliest civilizations in the World.
