ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistani actress and model Zainab Jamil has made shocking allegations, claiming that her husband was behind the failed assassination attempt on her life. Jamil, well-known for her role in the popular drama “Khuda Aur Muhabbat”, survived a gun attack by two masked assailants in Lahore’s DHA Phase IV while en route to her salon.
In a recorded video from her hospital bed in Lahore, Zainab Jamil accused her husband of staging the attack, citing threats she had received from him over the past two months. She stated, “The attack was carried out by my husband as he has been threatening me for the last two months,” expressing disbelief that the father of her children could perpetrate such violence against her.
Detailing her ordeal, Zainab Jamil revealed that despite receiving threats and a threat letter addressed to her beauty salon, she had not taken the warnings seriously until the violent incident occurred. She said that the attack appeared to be well-planned, as the armed assailants targeted her vehicle with precision.
Zainab Jamil’s pleaded the Inspector General of Punjab Police for help. She urged the IGP to intervene in her case and ensure a transparent investigation. She expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the police investigation and voiced concerns about her safety.
In her statement, Zainab Jamil highlighted the challenges she faced in accessing media attention. She is in critical condition after sustaining six bullet wounds.
The Lahore police have initiated an investigation into the incident, lodging a case against two unidentified suspects based on a complaint from Zainab Jamil’s uncle. Law enforcement authorities stated that they are utilizing Safe City cameras to trace the culprits and ensure their swift apprehension.
Zainab Jamil’s career in the entertainment industry spanned several successful projects, including “Sada Sukhi Raho”, “Sasural Meri Behen Ka”, and “Aap ki Kaneez”. In December 2020, she announced her decision to take a hiatus from showbiz to focus on living in accordance with Islamic teachings and deepen her knowledge of Islam.
