ISLAMABAD: Zaka Ashraf, the probable future chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has expressed his opposition to the proposed hybrid format for the upcoming Asia Cup.
Ashraf, who previously served as PCB chairman during the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government, stated that the hybrid model was not favorable for Pakistan.
Unfair Treatment to Pakistan
In an address at a local gathering in Islamabad, Ashraf mentioned that he had already rejected the hybrid model for the Asia Cup. He believes that Pakistan is being treated unfairly and that it is inappropriate to hold key games outside of the country. Ashraf insisted that as the host nation, the entire event should take place in Pakistan.
Last week, Najam Sethi, the chairman of the dissolved management committee, stated that the decision of appointing the next PCB chairman would be made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the patron of the PCB, and former president Asif Ali Zardari.
