KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday accused North Korea of sending troops to assist Russia’s military in its ongoing war against Ukraine.
Zelensky, speaking during his nightly address, claimed that North Korea is not only providing weapons to Russia but is now also sending its own personnel to bolster Russian forces.
“We see an increasing alliance between Russia and regimes like in North Korea,” he stated. “It is no longer just about transferring weapons. It is actually about the transfer of people from North Korea to the occupier’s military forces.”
The Ukrainian president’s comments follow his recent tour of several European capitals, including Berlin, London, and Paris, where he pressed for continued military and financial aid to resist Russian aggression. Zelensky emphasized the urgency of securing long-term support from Western allies, particularly in light of these new developments.
“When we talk about more long-range capability for Ukraine and more decisive supplies for our forces, it is not just a list of military equipment,” he said. “It is about increasing the pressure on the aggressor, which will be stronger for Russia than they can withstand. And it is about preventing a bigger war.”

Zelensky’s diplomatic efforts aim to encourage European nations to maintain and increase their support for Ukraine as the war enters its third year. The conflict has prompted significant international sanctions against Russia and sparked widespread concerns over global security.
Zelensky urged Ukraine’s allies to step up their assistance, stressing that the situation on the frontlines requires greater military backing to withstand these new threats.
