WASHINGTON: The Pakistan Embassy in the United States has extended warmest greetings to the people and government of the United States of America on the occasion of Independence Day.

In a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the Pakistan Embassy expressed its wishes, stating, “On behalf of the Embassy of Pakistan, we extend our warmest greetings to the people and Government of the United States of America on this joyous Independence Day. May the spirit of freedom & cooperation continue to strengthen our partnership.”

Independence Day in the United States, celebrated annually on July 4th, marks a significant federal holiday where government offices, schools, and the stock market remain closed. It is a day deeply cherished by Americans, characterized by displays of patriotism such as flying the American flag at homes and organizing parades in major cities. The day also traditionally witnesses a surge in travel as families and friends gather to commemorate the occasion.

The roots of Independence Day trace back to 1775 when the thirteen American colonies embarked on their quest for freedom from British rule under King George III. This movement culminated in the American Revolutionary War, driven by the colonists’ aspiration for self-governance and liberation from what they perceived as oppressive British policies. The pivotal moment arrived on July 2, 1776, when the Continental Congress secretly voted in favor of independence, leading to the historic Declaration of Independence two days later.
