Pakistan, Turkiye and Azerbaijan Vow to Strengthen Trilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan agreed to strengthen trilateral cooperation to promote regional and global peace and stability.

A Joint Statement released on Thursday read that Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Azerbaijan İlham Aliyev, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, met in Astana on July 3, 2024, on the sidelines of the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

During the trilateral summit, the leaders discussed bilateral relations among Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan, as well as regional and global issues including Gaza, Cyprus, Kashmir, and Islamophobia.

The trilateral cooperation process between Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan, which previously held meetings at the level of Speakers of Parliaments and Foreign Ministers, now elevated to a meeting at the level of heads of state.

During the meeting, they expressed a shared commitment to enhancing opportunities for cooperation among their countries.

The leaders agreed that strengthening trilateral cooperation would not only benefit the people of Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan but also contribute to regional and global peace and stability.

They affirmed their support for prioritizing dialogue among relevant countries to resolve conflicts, respecting principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Additionally, they emphasized the importance of collaboration in combating transnational threats, especially terrorism, and resolving these challenges collectively.

The statement stated that subsequent meetings of the trilateral cooperation process will rotate among Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan.
